Active children often complain of heel pain after running or playing sports. A simple physical diagnostic test can help you identify if Sever’s disease is the underlying cause of their discomfort. Sever’s disease, also known as Morbus Sever, occurs when the growth plate in the heel becomes irritated because a child’s bones are lengthening faster than their muscles and tendons. This condition typically affects children between the ages of 8 and 14.
A positive diagnostic test is the first step toward getting your child back to their favorite activities. The next step is to book a consultation. We conduct comprehensive evaluations via Zoom, allowing families to access expert care without traveling to a clinic.
During the video call, our founder and lead physiotherapist, Per Ollgaard, will guide you through further diagnostic tests. With 25 years of experience treating pediatric foot conditions, Per will ask specific questions about your child’s activity levels, the onset of the pain, and their footwear.
Once we confirm the diagnosis through our online assessment, we move immediately to our treatment approach. The primary solution for Sever’s disease is the Solemaids insole. We designed these custom insoles specifically to treat pediatric heel pain.
The Solemaids insole works by altering the biomechanics of the foot. It features a unique wedge that elevates the heel and redistributes the child’s body weight away from the inflamed growth plate. By removing the direct pressure from the heel bone, the insole provides rapid pain relief. Most children can return to running and jumping immediately after inserting the insoles into their sports shoes.
Solemaids is a Danish company with years of experience in treating heel related pain. We provide individually customized insoles for children with Sever’s disease and help them get back on their feet.
